Contracts scandal spreads

Tokyo - Japan's defence contract-padding scandal spread to NEC Corp yesterday as Tokyo prosecutors raided the giant multinational electronics firm. The search followed raids on Japan's Defence Agency and Toyo Communication Equipment Co Ltd, an NEC affiliate, which resulted in the arrest of a senior defence official, the chairman and another executive of Toyo Communication and an NEC executive.
