A Co Wexford schoolgirl died yesterday after the car she was travelling in struck an oncoming jeep after skidding on ice.
Caroline Griffin (13) of Ardamine, Courtown, was on her way to school in a car being driven by her mother shortly before 9 a.m. when the accident occurred. The girl, a second-year student at Gorey Community School, died at the scene. Her mother, Susan, was rushed by ambulance to Wexford General Hospital. She was suffering from head injuries, and was later reported to be in a stable condition.
