Closed season for angling extended

The Minister of State for the Marine, Mr Eamonn Gilmore, has introduced legislation extending the dosed season for salmon rod angling in the Waterford fishery district to the end of this month. The Southern Fisheries Board had sought the extension because the salmon spawning season in the district was "exceptionally late" this year. The angling season for salmon usually starts on February 1st.
