A challenge to the Environmental Protection Agency's decision to allow field trials of genetically-engineered sugar beet in Co Carlow will be heard in the High Court today.

The case was due to be heard last month but was adjourned on a number of agreed conditions. In the judicial review proceedings, Ms Clare Watson of Genetic Concern is challenging the EPA's decision to grant the US multi national, Monsanto, a licence to grow genetically-modified sugar beet in Carlow.
