A solicitor is seeking to bring a High Court challenge to the co-option of another councillor to Donegal County Council

A solicitor is seeking to bring a High Court challenge to the co-option of another councillor to Donegal County Council. It is claimed the post should have been filled by a non-party candidate.

Desmond Sheils, a solicitor and unsuccessful Independent candidate in the last local elections, claims Michael McBride was co-opted on May 30th as Labour Party representative to replace Jimmy Harte, elected to the Seanad in April.

Mr Justice Michael Peart adjourned his decision to today.
