Celtic manager Martin O'Neill is still waiting on the fitness of striker John Hartson but has seen his goalkeeping crisis eased.

Welsh international Hartson is being monitored by the Parkhead medical team after a back injury threatened his chances of a UEFA Cup final appearance next week.

The former Arsenal and West Ham forward has not played since the Old Firm derby at Ibrox on April 27th. His recovery has been described as slow by the club website despite returning to running in training.

But fears that the Hoops would be without a recognised goalkeeper for the final in Seville next week are disappearing after Magnus Hedman came through an under-21 game against Dundee United unscathed.

The Swedish international has not played since February due to knee ligament damage.

Javier Sanchez Broto is cup-tied after representing Livingston earlier in the competition.

But regular number one Rob Douglas is also on course for a return to action in time for the game against Porto after a thigh injury.

But winger Bobby Petta has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after sustaining an ankle injury in training.
