A 41-year-old Celtic fan was shot in the chest in a crowded Amsterdam bar today ahead of the Glasgow side's Champions League qualifier against Ajax Amsterdam.
"The man has been taken to hospital with a chest wound but he is not in immediate danger," Amsterdam police spokeswoman Ms Ellie Vlorax said.
She said the incident seemed not to be related to a row over the match, but added the exact circumstances of the shooting were still unknown.
The spokeswoman declined to identify the victim but said his relatives had been informed.
