Panama City - Ms Mireya Moscoso, who won Sunday's elections in Panama, will be tested in December when her government takes over the strategic canal that has placed the country on the world's geostrategic map and shaped its modern history.
As President of Panama, Ms Moscoso will lead ceremonies on December 31st marking the handover of the 85-year-old canal and US installations along the length of the 80 km waterway.
