Ireland was entering an era of "designer babies" which made it vital that a code of ethics for genetic medicine be introduced without delay, according to Green Party MEP Ms Nuala Ahern.
The latest scientific news on the use of stem cells from embryos showed the need for legislation in this area, she said.
