Cadbury Schweppes said today its 2006 performance was in line with previous expectations with underlying sales growth seen around the middle of its target range while its operating margins will be broadly flat.

The group, in an end of year trading update, reiterated its October update by saying it saw 4 per cent 2006 revenue growth and flat operating margin due to a salmonella-related product recall and hot summer weather hitting British chocolate sales.

The company said it had increased its estimated cost to cover its UK salmonella contamination in the summer to £30 million ($58.6 million) from £20 million previously.
