London - The British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Gordon Brown, yesterday rejected allegations that he bought an apartment on the cheap from creditors of the late business tycoon, Robert Maxwell. Sunday newspapers reported Mr Brown had bought the central London flat in 1992 for £130,000 from the administrators of Maxwell's market firm, AGB Research, when the market value of the property could have been £200,000.
