A series of stone circles uncovered on a remote hillside in the Sperrin Mountains in Co Tyrone date back to the Bronze Age, 4,000 years ago, according to archaeologists excavating the site.
Ms Clare Foley, of the Environment and Heritage Service, said the site gives us an insight into the mind-set of the Bronze Age people who built it. "It would have served a very wide community in the area for ritual purposes.
"They may have had gods that they came to worship here. They may have been very interested in astronomy and worried about the rolling seasons and how their crops would behave."
