Industrial output fell by 0.5 per cent in July from June, and by 3.2 per cent on a 12-month basis, the British office for national statistics said.

Manufacturing output dropped by 0.9 per cent in July from June, giving a 12-month fall of 3 per cent.

Analysts had been expecting a 12-month fall of 2.7 per cent in industrial output and a decline of 2.1 per cent in manufacturing output.
