British battleship pays Dublin call

And Britannia's huns with her long range guns Sailed in through the foggy dew.

Well it's all going to happen again. The above refers to the gunboat that sailed up the Liffey in 1916. Another one is coming at the end of the month, when the HMS Monmouth pays a courtesy call to Dublin. It's a fully armed Royal Navy frigate and the first British battleship to venture here in years and years. It's all part of the growing confidence in the friendship between our two countries and the high-profile visit will include a glitzy onboard party. But there are a few questions. Will the usual suspects protest? Will the crew be allowed wander around Dublin in uniform as sailors from other navies do all the time? And, since it's coming at the end of the month, will the Monmouth fire its guns to mark agreement on decommissioning in the North?
