Boulami sets world record in steeplechase

Morocco's Brahim Boulami set a world record of 7 minutes 55

Morocco's Brahim Boulami set a world record of 7 minutes 55.28 seconds in the 3,000 metres steeplechase at the Memorial Van Damme Golden League event today.

He beat the old record of 7:55.72 set by Bernard Barmasai of Kenya in Cologne in August 1997.

Cheered on by an ecstatic crowd, Boulami threw his arms in the air as he crossed the line ahead of Kenyan Reuben Kosgei in 7:57.29 and another Kenyan Stephen Cherono in 7:58.66.
