Monsieur Bond was the runaway winner of the Castlemartin/La Louviere Studs Gladness Stakes at the Curragh today.

Fergal Lynch settled Bryan Smart's 3-1 favourite towards the outside of the 13-runner field as Dossier and Sea Dart set the early pace in the Group Three contest.

With two of the seven furlongs left to go Lynch made his move on Monsieur Bond and the flashy chestnut produced a telling burst of speed to go readily clear of his rivals.

At the line Monsieur Bond was seven lengths ahead of Mark Tompkins' Steenberg, with the Richard Hannon-trained Rockets 'N Rollers back in third to complete a clean sweep for the British raiders.

Smart, who was landing his first winner in Ireland, said: "He's an exceptionally good horse with a great turn of foot.

"I thought he'd win, but didn't think he'd win that far. I can't believe how much he's improved this year."

Monsieur Bond will now drop back to six furlongs for the Group Two Duke Of York Stakes on the Knavesmire on May 11th.
