Bilbao - Bombs exploded in the Basque region in northern Spain after a wave of arrests of suspected ETA separatist guerrillas, state radio reported yesterday. A home-made bomb exploded on Saturday night at the family home of a Socialist party candidate for mayor of Bilbao, police officials said. There was only limited damage and no injuries were reported. The house was empty at the time.
At about midnight two hooded youths threw several petrol bombs at a car dealership in Bilbao. The building was damaged and some vehicles were burned, the radio report said.
Last week Spanish and French police arrested several suspected ETA guerrillas, including ETA's suspected military chief, who was seized in Paris.
