Bomb at Nato base kills at least six

At least six civilians have been killed in a suicide bomb attack at the entrance to a Nato base in southern Afghanistan.

At least six civilians have been killed in a suicide bomb attack at the entrance to a Nato base in southern Afghanistan.

It was the second suicide bombing in as many days in the area, which is the birthplace of the Taliban insurgency.

The bomber "arrived on foot and tried to get near the gate of Kandahar Air Field and then he blew himself up," said a police official. Other civilians were wounded.

On Wednesday, dozens of civilians, coalition troops and Afghan security forces were killed and wounded when a suicide attacker blew himself up in a bazaar in neighbouring Helmand province.

A bomber on a motorcycle killed at least 12 Afghans, including two policeman, and wounded at least 23 other people.
