Students at Limerick Institute of Technology were shocked to learn of the death of one of their fellow students whose body was found in an apartment near the college yesterday.
The body of the young man (19) was discovered at his apartment in the student village on the Old Cratloe Road at about 10am. It is thought the student, from Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, may have died as a result of a medical condition.
“The scene was examined and nothing suspicious was found,” a Garda spokesman said. The body was removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick, where a postmortem was due to be carried out.
