The body of a young man taken from the Shannon in Limerick on Monday was identified yesterday as that of Mr Liam Fitzmaurice (20), from Ballintobber, Killeedy, Co Limerick. A student at the Limerick Institute of Technology in Moylish, he was last seen with friends on the night of December 3rd at a club in Bakers Place. A post-mortem examination was carried out, and foul play is not suspected.

Gardai at Henry Street - (061) 414222, or Mayorstone (061) 452974 - are appealing for witnesses or information.

Gardai are also investigating the death of a man on St Stephen's Day who is believed to have fallen from a roof at his home at Tough, Adare, Co Limerick. It is understood that Mr John Leonard (57) climbed on to the roof to inspect storm damage.
