Bewley's on Grafton Street is to reopen in May under new management and with a much improved selection of food and coffee, it was announced today.

The new operation will be run by Sherland Entertainments, the leisure group controlled by entrepreneurs Jay Bourke and Eoin Foyle, who operate Café Bar Deli, Eden, Odessa, RiRa and the Market Bar, among others.

Bewley's will continue to be the sole occupier of the premises and will have ultimate responsibility for the operation, Sherland said in a statement.

Bewley's also signalled today that the roasting of fresh coffee will return to its Grafton Street premises and promised the food offered will be "dramatically different to what was available before".

The revamped premises will include a café and patisserie on the ground floor serving breakfast from 8am; a fish restaurant called Mackerel, serving daily delivered produce on the first floor; and a restaurant serving Mediterranean-style food, both on the ground and first floors.

In addition, Bewley's Café Theatre will be re-established on the top floor of the building and will include cabaret and jazz performances in the evening time.
