Michael Barrymore says he is relieved he is no longer the subject of a police investigation.

He has been cautioned for drugs offences following an investigation into the death of a 31-year-old man at his home.

British Police say the TV star has been officially cautioned for possessing cannabis and for allowing premises to be used for the smoking of cannabis.

Mr Barrymore's solicitor Mr David Corker said: "Michael Barrymore attended a police station at Stansted Airport this afternoon.

"Following a short interview he was informed by Essex police officers that the police investigation of him was terminated and his police bail was to be immediately cancelled.

"Subsequently, Michael Barrymore accepted a police caution in relation to the possession of a very small amount of cannabis found at his home on 31 March. He was then released.

"Michael Barrymore expressed his relief that today marks the end of any police inquiry involving him."
