A teenage north Co Dublin farm worker who raped his 11-year-old cousin has been remanded on continuing bail for sentence next week by the Central Criminal Court.

The defendant, who was 16 at the time of the incidents, pleaded guilty to two charges of oral rape and two of anal rape of the victim on dates between November 1st 1997 and January 31st 1998.

Sgt Gerry McHugh told Ms Mary Rose Gearty, prosecuting, that there had been four separate incidents during which the abuse occurred. The first was at a bonfire to celebrate Hallowe'en in 1997, when the defendant had taken the younger boy aside and had forced him to perform sexual activities with him. He said all the other incidents had been of a similar nature.

Mr Justice Smith set July 24th as the date of sentence.
