A former garda accused of corruption and perverting the course of justice was remanded on bail yesterday for service of a book of evidence. Mr John O'Neill, of The Rise, Kingswood, Tallaght, appeared at Dublin District Court charged with accepting £200 as a gift or bribe between November 1st, 1995, and October 17th, 1996. He is accused of conspiring to pervert the course of justice by removing and destroying a court warrant and of unlawful possession of a sawn-off single-barrel shotgun.

Judge Con O'Leary granted a state solicitor six weeks to produce a book of evidence.
