Arsenal stretched their lead at the top of the Premiership to four points this evening, following their 2-1 victory over Spurs in the north London derby at Highbury.

Goals from Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg provided the basis of the Gunners' victory, after they languished a goal behind for over an hour; Darren Anderton poached the Spurs opener after just 4 minutes.

Arsene Wenger's side are now on 30 points, four ahead of Chelsea, who play Newcastle tomorrow.

Elswhere, Charlton propelled themselves to fourth in the table, following a comprehensive 3-1 home victory over Fulham. Two goals from Jonatan Johansson and an opening strike from Graham Stuart laid the basis of the Londoners' win. They now lie just a point off third-placed Manchester United, who are engaged in the tie of the weekend tomorrow, with their clash with Liverpool scheduled for a 2pm kick-off.
