Gardaí investigating the alleged misappropriation of funds from a post office earlier this year arrested a man, but later released him without charge. A file is to be prepared and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man (37) was detained yesterday in Gorey, Co Wexford, where the alleged offence took place. An Post discovered the money was missing when it audited the Gorey branch in June. It alerted gardaí and the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation was involved in the subsequent criminal investigation.
