The British army has carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect car in Co Fermanagh when it was abandoned shortly after fleeing from a military checkpoint last night.

A police spokesman said two men abandoned the car after turning away from the checkpoint outside Lisnaskea shortly before midnight.

The car was then investigated by an army technical team, which carried out an explosion early this morning. There were no injuries or arrests in the incident.
