An Post today confirmed Donal Connell is to its new chief executive.
Mr Connell was formerly the general manager at Maxtor Ireland, a computer hardware company, and a vice president with 3Com Corporation.
Margaret McGinley, chairwoman of An Post, said: "An Post has made significant advances in recent years, and we are now well positioned to build on this progress, not least in terms of our financial services strategy.
"Donal is eminently qualified to steer An Post through the next critical stage of its development."
