Mogadishu - Unidentified gunmen in the Somali capital yesterday kidnapped a British aid worker Jonathan Ward (31) and French administrator Francoise Deutsch (46), both employees of the aid agency Action Against Hunger (ACF), the organisation said.

An ACF official in Nairobi confirmed the kidnapping. The British man was later named as Jonathan ward (31), and the but declined to give further details.

The ACF compound is situated near Kilometre 4 junction in south Mogadishu, the fiefdom of the warlord, Mr Hussein Mohamed Aidid.
