A Balbriggan heroin addict who, armed with an iron bar, broke into the home of an elderly woman has been sentenced to six years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Edward Martin (23), from Bath Road, pleaded guilty to two charges of robbery, one charge of burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Martin broke into the home of the then 71-year-old woman on Drogheda Street on November 18th, 1999, and demanded money. He stole her purse and pension book.
