The actor Fionnula Flanagan is to receive this year’s Maureen O’Hara award for women who have excelled in the art of film, the Kerry Film Festival announced yesterday. The festival runs from October 29th to November 5th.

"Described as one of the most varied actresses in film history Fionnula Flanagan has made an impact on the stage, in feature films, and on the small screen. Most recently she appeared in The Guardwith Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle," the festival organisers said yesterday.
