An accountant found to have deliberately deceived three brothers over a controversial land deal in Co Sligo has secured a six-month stay on a €2.4 million order against him pending the outcome of his claims that former EU commissioner Ray Mac Sharry, his sons Ray and Marc and others also have a liability in the matter.

Kenneth McMoreland told Mr Justice Seán Ryan yesterday he was proceeding with third party claims against the Mac Sharrys and others. The matter was listed for mention at the Commercial Court next week for fixing a hearing date, he said.

The judge granted a six-month stay on his order requiring Mr McMoreland to pay €2.4 million, interest and costs to brothers Arthur, Kieran and John Grady and their company, TJ Grady Ltd.

The judge also made an order setting aside an investment deal entered into by the Gradys’ firm on September 11th, 2006.
