Tbilisi - Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia warned yesterday its troops were ready to cross the unofficial border with Georgia in order to wipe out pro-Georgian guerrillas threatening the enclave.

"Bandits, mostly Chechens and Arabs, are camped in the Pankissi gorge, and will try to continue their aggression," the region's Prime Minister, Mr Anri Dzhergeniya, said.
