A van driver who suffered a "minor to moderate" whiplash injury in a car accident which caused no damage to either vehicle has been awarded £7,500 compensation in the Circuit Civil Court.

Mr James Grogan, a courier, of Dodsboro, Lucan, Co Dublin, told defence counsel Mr Gerry Charleton yesterday there was no material damage to the rear of his Ford Transit van or the front of the Peugeot 106 which had been driven into the back of him in traffic.

Judge Michael White told Mr Eugene Gleeson, counsel for Mr Grogan, he accepted the impact had been a "very minor" one. Liability was not in issue.
