49 jobs to be created by aircraft seat manufacturer in Co Down

A small Co Down aircraft seating company has announced a £5.2 million (€6.28 million) investment leading to the creation of 49 specialised jobs.

Thompson Aero Seating based in Kilkeel believes its cabin furniture designs mean that airlines can give passengers more room while squeezing more of them into a cabin. The only modification needed, they say, is for additional drop-down emergency oxygen masks to be fitted.

Industry minister Arlene Foster said the plans would boost the highly specialised aerospace sector in Northern Ireland.

The North’s inward investment agency InvestNI is to support the venture with £875,000. The support will help the firm to increase staffing levels.
