Two men have been arrested after an armed raid on a building society in south county Dublin today.

Two men have been arrested after an armed raid on a building society in south county Dublin today.

The Garda press office said two men entered the EBS Building Society on Lower George's Street in Dún Laoghaire shortly before 2pm today and held up staff and customers with a knife.

"They escaped with cash and left the scene on a motorbike," a statement said.

"Gardaí responded and pursued the motorbike causing it to stop on Crofton Road where two men were arrested. Cash and a knife were recovered and both men are detained at Dún Laoghaire Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984."
