2,500 years of tin mining end

London - A long battle to save the last tin mine in Britain ended yesterday with the announcement of its imminent closure and the loss of 270 jobs. The shutdown of South Crofty, near Redruth in Cornwall, will end a 2,500-year history of tin mining in the county. - (PA)
