Donnybrook Fair will be holding a six-week wine course for beginnersin The Room, the new cookery area in the Morehampton Road shop. Donnybrook Fair will also be hosting a Portuguese Wine Dinnerin the restaurant on Tuesday, May 26th. It will be hosted by Luis Duarte, twice acclaimed Portuguese Winemaker of the Year, and there will be a succession of wines to match each course. Tickets are €60 or €100 for a couple. Enowine in the IFSC will also host a winemaker dinneron Friday, May 22nd, with Monsieur Priol from Château Preuillac in Bordeaux. Four different wines will be presented during a three-course dinner. The cost is €45 per person (including wine and aperitif). Booking is essential, tel: 01-6054912.

Ozzy day outWine lovers and rugby aficionados alike should be interested in a charity event being organised by Wine Australia on May 17th at Monkstown Rugby Club/Pembroke Cricket Club on Sydney Parade in Sandymount. Touch Wine Ireland will feature a series of tag rugby matches, Martin Moran and I will be on hand to pour our top 15 Australian wines, there will be face-painting, children's entertainment, barbecues, and a charity auction. The event is in aid of Focus Ireland and the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal. Australian Ambassador Anne Plunkett will start the proceedings at 2pm. Entrance is free, but donations are encouraged.
