Puffin stuff on Faroe, yoga in Tuscany and a ’Dam fine treat for foodies

Puffin package

The Faroe Islands’ newest boutique hotel, Hotel Havgrim, offers guests an up-close look at the puffins, who make their home here each summer. The new 14-bedroom property is located on the shore of úti við Strond on the island of Streymoy, a stone’s throw from the historic fort of Skansin and within easy walking distance of the town centre and old part of Tórshavn. For wildlife lovers, the sea-facing suites are a real treat, and a selection of excellent local tours to help visitors get a real insight into the animals and wildlife are the icing on top. See hotelhavgrim.fo and visitfaroeislands.com for more.

Yoga hub

Hotel Grotta Giusti in Tuscany is set to launch one of the world’s most unusual yoga offerings this summer. Thermal yoga, as it’s called, takes place in its millennial thermal cave with natural therapeutic steam baths. Guests can try this new stress-busting experience for themselves as part of a new two-night spa package, which is topped off with an ayurvedic massage. From €664 per person based on double-occupancy, grottagiustispa.com for more.

New to Newbridge: factory settings

Newbridge Silverware in Co Kildare is set to attract an additional 100,000 tourists to its visitor centre each year, as it opens its factory tour this month. Visitors will be able to see their silverware and jewellery being made in the factory, which has been in operation since 1934. Visit newbridgesilverware.com for more.

Dylan and the ’Dam

A stay at the Dylan in Amsterdam is a real treat. Located on Keizersgracht, one of Amsterdam’s main canals, everything here, from the immaculately decorated rooms to the courtyard garden, is Dutch gold. Foodies will love its gourmet package, which includes a one-night stay, a five-course dinner with wine pairings, a behind-the-scenes experience in the kitchen where guests are welcome to enjoy an amuse bouche and glass of wine at the chef’s table, breakfast the following morning and a bottle of champagne and surprise gift in the room from €715, based on two people sharing a room. Visit dylanamsterdam.com for more.
