Róisín Agnew, drama student and part-time model, grew up in Rome, and is now studying at Trinity College Dublin
Describe what you're wearing
The black trousers are from Zara and the striped Chinese silk shirt is a vintage one that I bought in Venice last Christmas. I got the black suede peep-toes and the MaxMara jacket in Rome. I've only got into high heels in the past two years.
Where do you shop?
Mostly in Rome, where I grew up. I buy a lot of things from markets and vintage shops, but all my T-shirts are from Intimissimi, a leading Italian underwear shop. They are fitted to flatter the figure. I have never been to Topshop.
Are you a bargain hunter?
Yes, absolutely. My best bargain was a hand-embroidered silk kimono which I got for €3 in Rome. I love shopping. Even when I have no money, I like trying things on.
Do you wear a lot of black?
Yes, a lot. I like it because it looks good on me and it's nice against my skin and hair. And also it is slimming.
Favourite accessories?
A ring my mother gave me, which a friend of hers found in the gutter the day she met her husband-to-be. Now it's my lucky ring. I love the well-polished look of beaten-up leather, so I tend to buy boots and bags in secondhand shops. Also, I love patent leather. I have a black patent belt I got in Penneys which gives a corseted effect.
What's the most you've ever spent on clothes?
My prom dress in cream satin cost €500 in a vintage shop. It's by a French designer from the l950s and had never been worn. It's a full-on ballgown.
Is there any trend you dislike?
I hate skinny jeans and Ugg boots, particularly when they're worn with a hoodie and flicked-out hair.
Do Romans and Dubs dress very differently?
The Irish have a more varied style and use a lot of colour, whereas in Italy they dress more conservatively, but without a lot of bright colour. Italians spend a lot of money on jeans, for example.
Hair and make-up?
I always do my make-up before I got out. I just comb my hair.
Any style icons?
Marilyn Monroe would definitely be one. I like the 1940s and 1950s because the clothes were so flattering. I love the hairdos. I am somewhat stuck in the past, but I really like ethnic clothes as much as vintage, so I suppose you could describe my own style as eclectic.
