Apartment plan for listed Eaton Brae House off to appeals board: The developers looking to turn the listed Eaton Brae House in Shankill, Co Dublin into 38 apartments have appealed a decision by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to refuse them planning permission to An Bord Pleanála.

The consortium of developers including B Costelloe, L Maye, B Meagher, and J O'Reilly is looking to build two separate three-storey blocks, including penthouse apartment blocks, comprising 38 apartments, 43 car-parking spaces and involving the demolition of a 1970s extension to the north of the house.

Two new hotels for Fingal

Fingal County Council has granted planning permission for two major hotels in its jurisdiction.

Newlands Cross Hotels, which is controlled by Bert Allen of Slaney Meats in Wexford, was granted permission to build a 450-bed hotel on a 12.6-acre site at Clonshaugh near Dublin Airport.

The hotel will have a conference centre and swimming pool as well as a gym, leisure centre, restaurant/diningroom and bar and 914 car-parking spaces. The plan will involve the demolition of a house on the site.

The UK division of the Golden Tulip hotel and resort chain has been granted permission to build a 157-bed on over two acres in Swords, Co Dublin.

The hotel, with access off Airside Retail Park Estate Road, will have meeting rooms, a restaurant/diningroom and lounge bar, kitchens and surface car-parking for 228 cars and four coach parks.

Golden Tulip is a privately-owned franchise company with a head office based in Amersfoort, in the Netherlands, which through its alliance with TOTP hotels, has 43,000 rooms in 390 hotels in 41 countries.

Apartment block planned for former Rosepark hotel

Rose Park Development Company - with an address at Brookfield House, Brookfield Terrace in Blackrock - has applied to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to demolish the former Rosepark Hotel and erect an apartment building of two to four storeys.

The application seeks to build 39 apartments - six one-bedroom units, 32 two-bedroom homes and one three-bedroom apartment. These apartments will be above a basement car park with space for 40 cars with access from Kill Avenue. There will also be space for 40 bicycles and a number of mature trees will also be retained.
