The Viper Screen is made by Danish company Fritzhansen and is sold at Mimo in Cork. Simple and flexible, it is made from vertical oval aluminium tubes linked by a hinge that are clicked together by hand to create a screen wall as long as you require - €1,130 for this one. The aluminium tubes are naturally anodised and have an inner sound absorbing foam filling.

Helen Kilmartin of Minima used a black lacquered bookcase system by Italian company Tissettenta to divide part of a hall floor room in her home on Herbert Place. Behind is a sofa bed and when the double doors (positioned in line with the window) are closed, this becomes a sleepover space for guests. What you see here costs €12,000 but because it's modular, itcan be designed to fit any space, so the price is adaptable to what you need. Also available in white, green, wood and matt finishes.

Lomi's double-sided room divider by Regolo includes presses and open shelving. The modular system is available in wood finishes and 19 matt lacquer colours with doors in wood or various glass colours. The format shown in this picture costs €6,621, but prices start at €840. Black is the look of the moment in interiors but will last longer than any other colour trend, so units like these are worth the money.
