Following the successful launch of Sandford Wood in Swords this year, Kingscroft Developments Ltd is developing a second scheme of houses at an adjoining site to be called Bride's Glen. Identical in design, the first 30 homes will be released for sale this weekend with prices starting at £175,995 for three-bedroom semi-detached houses. Ross McParland in Swords is the selling agent.

Located north of Swords village close to the Motorola campus, the 120 redbrick fronted homes at Bride's Glen will be a continuation of Sandford Wood and will comprise a mix of three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached units, four-bedroom semis and four-bedroom detached houses.

Ten miles from the city centre and minutes from the airport, Swords village has been given a facelift in recent times which has made it a popular location for first-time buyers and young families.

Thousands of new homes have been built around the village in the past five years stretching the boundaries further and further. Infrastructural investment has also begun to kick in and Dublin Bus has extended routes to serve commuters in these new developments.

Many new estates are often too far from village centres, but in the case of Bride's Glen, and surrounding estates, they will benefit from a proposed new village centre at the Applewood development across the road. The complex will include a supermarket, banking hall, public house, restaurant, office units, pharmacy and medical centre and creche. In nearby Swords, the large Pavilions Shopping Centre is due to open next spring.

The four-bedroom detached house is the most spacious at Bride's Glen, with 1,326 sq ft of space over two floors for £253,995. Designed by architects Peter White Associates, the main entrance is to the side of the house, which allows for a more creative layout. The diningroom faces on to the hallway, while to the left, the livingroom with two windows stretches the width of the house and the classic fireplace on display in the showhouse is standard throughout.

The Shaker-style maple kitchen stretches the width of the house at the back and there are patio doors from the breakfast area to the garden. To the side of the main kitchen area there is a utility area. Here, there is also a second door to the back garden. There is a guest bathroom under the stairs.

The stairs is one of the main features of the entrance hallway. Upstairs there are four bedrooms. The main bedroom has an en suite and fitted wardrobes, and there is an added bay window overlooking the front garden. There is a further double or twin room to the back of the house with good built-in wardrobe space. Two single rooms, one bigger than the other, complete the bedroom arrangements. The upstairs bathroom has standard white tiles and a timber bath panel.

Although the four-bedroom semi-detached house has a typical layout with the main entrance door to the front, most of the interior features are similar to the other houses. Slightly smaller than the detached unit, the four-bedroom semi has 1,265 sq ft of space and is priced at £194,995. The 1,113 sq ft three-bedroom semidetached is almost identical to the fourbedroom style though it is cheaper at £175,995.

The livingroom is off the hallway and double half glass panel doors lead to the diningroom from where there is a door to the kitchen. This can also be accessed from the hallway. The utility room is in the hallway along with the understairs lavatory. Upstairs, the main bedroom with en suite is at the back of the three-bed.

The four-bedroom style has two double rooms with built-in wardrobes, one large single bedroom with wardrobe and a smaller single room. The three-bedroom semi-detached has two double bedrooms with wardrobes and a small single room overlooking the front garden. The central heating is natural gas fired.

The launch of 30 homes will mainly consist of the three and four-bedroom semi-detached styles which are due to be completed next spring. Kingscroft Developments will also build 26 three-bedroom terraced houses in the second phase of the scheme but for now people can view the existing showhomes at the Sandford Wood development.
