Sales Results A Victorian semi-detached house at 27 Ailesbury Road set a new record at auction yesterday when it sold for €9 million under the hammer through McNally Handy & Partners.
Four parties chased the house after bidding opened at €6.5 million. It was knocked down to auctioneer Pat Stephenson, acting in trust for a UK buyer who has bought it as an investment.
The vendor is the former restaurateur Peter White who bought the house 25 years ago with tenants in situ. Over the last year, the 452sq m (4,879sq ft) house has been refurbished to suit a large household with staff. The new owners will almost certainly rent out the house, and may look for up to €15,000 a month for the property.
