Househunters in Malahide might be forgiven for thinking that the property market has gone starkers, since the sale last week of a burnt out detached house on St Margaret's Road for no less than £470,000. Over 200 viewed the 60 year old detached house, which needs at least £150,000 to be spent on it according to selling agents O'Farrell Cleere. Many did not venture inside because of its dangerous condition. Some of the 30 architects who viewed the property recommended that it be demolished. This didn't seem to deter potential buyers, eighty of whom packed into the auction room when bidding opened at £300,000.
