PLANS by UK hotel chain Forte to build a separate bar, restaurant and function room close to its Travelodge hotel at the Auburn Avenue roundabout on the Navan Road at Castleknock, Dublin 15, have been turned down by An Bord Pleanala. Work is well advanced on the 60-bedroom, budget-style hotel, which is expected to open early this summer. The planning appeals board said the development of the additional facilities would contravene the zoning objective of protecting the open nature of lands between urban areas.
