The terrace was built around 1890 and named after Princess Alexandra, who had visited the city some five years earlier. The ground floor fireplaces, though period pieces, are interesting but not original to the house. The feature marble fireplace in the sittingroom, which has inlaid wood, decorative tiles and a copper canopy, comes from France.

The mahogany fireplace in the dining area, where the floor is tiled and where there is a large velux, has an inset wood burning stove. Polished hardwood floors in the hall, sitting and bedrooms are original. Dado rails give a nice period touch and internal doors are the solid, panelled kind.
