Gorey: from €178,000: A development of 51 houses in Gorey, Co Wexford, is being launched this week through joint agents Sherry FitzGerald Myles Doyle and Sherry FitzGerald O'Leary Kinsella, with prices from €178,000.

Oakwood, which is set in a tree-lined cul-de-sac with a large open green, is in the fast-growing commuter town of Gorey, which has seen a lot of overspill development from Dublin in recent years.

The on-going upgrading of the N11 dual carriageway all the way to Dublin is facilitating this growth and the town also has a rail service to Dublin.

There are three house styles at Oakwood. Two-bedroom terraced townhouses with 65.5 sq m (705 sq ft) cost from €178,000, three-bedroom semi-detached homes of 114.1 sq m (1,228 sq ft) start from €247,000 and four-bedroom detached homes of 105.4 sq m (1,135 sq ft) cost from €255,000.

All homes have a mixture of red brick and pebble-dash exteriors with a high level of insulation. Fitted kitchens, fitted wardrobes, oil-fired central heating, double-glazing and patio doors come as standard while the main bedroom in each house has an en-suite.

Gorey, whose main street is 300 yards from the entrance to Oakwood, offers easy access to the well-known beaches at Courtown and Ballymoney. The town offers a decent selection of restaurants and shops, sports clubs and recreational facilities.

Oakwood is being developed by Redmond Construction whose previous schemes include Deepdales in Bray, Marlton Springs and Summerfield in Wicklow town, the Maples in Arklow and Hazelwood in Gorey.

A showhouse opens for the first time this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.
