Dunloe Ewart has lodged a planning application for a new retail, residential and leisure regeneration development between Royal Avenue and Cathedral Quarter in Belfast. The £150 million scheme would involve a development of 450,000 sq ft of space, including 275,000 sq ft for retail use. The planning application has been lodged at a time when the Belfast Regeneration Office is considering three other schemes, including Dunloe Ewart's larger joint-venture Gateway proposal with CastleCourt owners, MEPC, and John Laing. Dunloe Ewart Northern Ireland director Barry Gilligan said a large number of British, Irish and global retailers were unable to find quality space in Belfast. Cathedral Way would cater for these and create leisure and tourism opportunities in a direct link to Cathedral Quarter.
