Does Savills have the answer to our ills?

ARE WE at the beginning of the end? That is the question we all want answered and apparently Savills has the answer.

Its Blackrock branch is holding a seminar next Wednesday in the local Starbucks, no less, to clear up the matter for once and for all.

Interestingly, guest speakers include Ronan O’Hara, a director of Savills who is based in its Blackrock branch, and Joan Henry, director of research.

The guest speakers also include those two other stalwarts of the property market . . . Bobby Kerr and Niall O’Farrell from RTÉ’s Dragons’ Den.

Maybe O’Farrell is hoping to gain an insight into the prospects of selling Thorndene, his own property on Shrewsbury Road, which has been on the market through Colliers since 2009.

It is currently asking €8 million, down from its original asking price of €14 million, but there are still no takers, it seems. Although it’s believed he’s open to offers.

The 863sq m (9,300sq ft) house has seven bedrooms and a swimming pool, and it’s reputed to be the largest house on the road.
